AgentMail has become a common answer to “how do I give my agent an email address.” But it’s a mailbox platform, with an account, an API key, and a three-inbox free tier, and most agents don’t need a mailbox. They need to receive a code, open a confirmation link, or check that a test email arrived.

Here are seven AgentMail alternatives, starting with the one built for exactly that job.

Agent Temp Mail: the best AgentMail alternative for agents that receive

Agent Temp Mail is built for the email an agent actually gets: verification codes, magic links, and confirmations.

  • No account, no API key. The address is derived from a key the agent generates, so it’s live instantly. Create one per agent, task, or test.
  • Private. Every read is signed; the key opens one inbox and nothing else.
  • Codes extracted. One-time codes and verification links arrive pre-extracted with their context.
  • Agent-ready. Official MCP server for Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor; Node.js SDK and CLI; a read link ChatGPT can open without an account.
  • Safe by default. Plain text only, links never opened, every message labeled untrusted, and receive-only so a hijacked agent can’t send.
  • Free, and addresses never expire.

Agent Temp Mail vs AgentMail, in detail.

Nylas Agent Accounts

Hosted mailboxes that send and receive, with calendars and compliance certifications. Its CLI includes a good code extractor (nylas otp get), though it isn’t available through the MCP server. You need a Nylas account and API key; the free plan includes three agent accounts.

MailSlurp

An email-testing API that has added agent features: a hosted MCP server with OAuth and scoped roles, wait endpoints, sending, and SMS on higher plans. Code extraction is regex-based or a paid AI feature billed in tokens. The free plan allows 100 new inboxes a month, and free inboxes expire after a default time.

Resend

A sending platform that also receives, on a catch-all address or your own domain, with an official MCP server and an agent inbox product in private beta. Inbound mail counts against the free plan’s 3,000 emails a month and 100 a day, and you’d write code extraction yourself.

Cloudflare Email Service

Routes inbound mail for your own domain to a Worker you write; sending requires a paid Workers plan. You build storage, retention, and extraction yourself. Agent Temp Mail runs on Cloudflare Workers, so it’s essentially that work, already done and free to use.

MailSink

A verification-focused service with MCP tools for waiting on an email and pulling out a code. It requires a GitHub sign-in and API key, free inboxes last one hour, and the vendor estimates its own code-extraction accuracy at about 70%.

Atomic Mail

An open alpha in which agents register by solving a roughly 30-second proof-of-work puzzle, then send and receive over JMAP. Some of its simple tools are still marked as coming soon.

Which should you choose?

  • Your agent signs up for things, verifies accounts, or tests email flows: Agent Temp Mail.
  • Your agent writes to people: pair a sending platform—AgentMail, Nylas, or Resend—with Agent Temp Mail for sign-ups, so the main mailbox stays clean and codes stay private.
